Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has emerged champions of the 2018 National Mathematics quiz competition scoring 57.5 points to overcome the intellectual mathematics battle fiercely challenged by the University of Ghana and University of Cape Coast who scored 50 and 30.5 points respectively. For their prize, they received a trophy, certificates and financial package.
The event was organized by the Ghana Mathematics Society at the Regent University of Science and Technology, Accra as part of activities on the occasion of the annual National Mathematics day on February 14.
A number of students from various schools and levels in Senior High, Technical and Vocational, Teacher training and Universities participated in 2018 edition of National Mathematics Day.
The National Mathematics day saw a number of presentations by renowned mathematicians in the country who educated and encouraged students on the study of Mathematics and its impact on nation development. Prominent among them was Founder and Patron of Ghana Mathematics Society, Professor Sitsofe Enyonam Anku.
Participants from KNUST, Miss Yinzime Priscilla Ama, Abijah Benjamin Abakah and Tuffour Prince Agyei expressed their excitement for winning and declared their commitment to pursue Mathematics to a higher level to contribute the study of Mathematics and the development of Ghana.
